Diploma in Nuclear Technology (DNT)
The Diploma in Nuclear Technology (DNT) is an entry level program which provides the initial training for UAE National high school graduates who wish to join the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program as a local operator or maintenance technician at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant (BNPP), located in the Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi Emirate, UAE.
Local operator and Maintenance Technician are very important roles to ensure we safely operate and maintain the Barakah Plant to deliver clean electricity to the UAE.
The DNT is a national vocational qualification, accredited by the Ministry of Education through the National Qualifications Centre.
Key Activities, Responsibility & Accountability
As a UAE National DNT trainee, you will develop knowledge and understanding about science and engineering fundamentals, nuclear power plant systems and processes. You will also undertake practical training in the workplace to meet the requirements of a local operator or maintenance technician.
The DNT is 24 months in duration and is delivered at HQ in Abu Dhabi and at the Barakah Plant by the Emirates Nuclear Energy corporation (ENEC) - ENEC Operations, and, if required external stakeholders.
On completion of the DNT, local operators and maintenance technicians are permanently located at the Barakah Plant.
The next intake will start during the winter of 2025-26 and will again be to train local operators or maintenance technicians.
Experience
Admission Criteria:
- Must be a UAE National.
- Age Between 18-25
- High School Certificate with minimum grade 70%
- IELTS 5 or Equivalent
- Completed National Military Service (no exemptions permitted)
