Youth Development Program

Talent Pipeline Programs

Talent Pipeline programs are the main channel for young UAE Nationals to apply for an entry level position or for a training program in the Enterprise.  We aim to support the creation and development of UAE Nationals to become competent nuclear professionals for technical positions and for positions which support corporate functions.

Train for Work Program

Part of the Abu Dhabi government's policy plans to interact with key stakeholders in society is to provide more job opportunities for Emirati graduates whose numbers are increasing at a fast pace every year.  To support this, Human Resources Authority (HRA) has launched an initiative (‘Train for Work’) which aims to develop job seekers' “unemployed UAE Nationals” who are registered in their database as “Actively looking for a job” to enable them to gain workplace experience which should improve their opportunity to get a job in future.

Admission criteria for Train for Work Program:

  1. Must be a UAE National.
  2. Should have a minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.5 (out of 4.0).
  3. English Proficiency: Minimum IELTS Academic band 5.0
  4. Registered in Tawteen/HRA as a job seeker who is currently unemployed.
  5. The study major (Diploma or bachelor’s degree) should be relevant to the host department core business.
  6. Trainees who are relatives cannot be allocated in the same department as relatives.
  7. Completed National Military Service (if applicable)

Known as ‘I-Trainees’, successful candidates join the Enterprise for an initial six-month training program.  There is no guarantee that they will secure a permanent job at the end of the program, but if they show promise and commitment, should a vacancy become available while an I-Trainee or shortly after completion of the program, they will be considered for it.

Train for Work – Administrative Assistant program

All vacant Administrative Assistant positions are now open only to UAE National diploma and bachelor graduates.

I-Trainees interested in training specifically as an Administrative Assistant should make this clear when they apply.  As other I-Trainees, they join the Train to Work program for six months. They will attend a structured development program, delivered primarily in the workplace, in a function with an Administrative Assistant vacancy. Most of these vacancies are based at Barakah.

If a trainee Administrative Assistant shows progress and commitment, they will be confirmed into a position at the end of six months.

The admission criteria are as for all other I-Trainees, except, a minimum IELTS 5.5 is required (and preferably more) as they will be working in English.

Graduate Development Program (GDP)

The GDP is designed to enable the best, fresh graduates with a top bachelor’s degree to gain knowledge, understanding and experience of nuclear and nuclear support functions, vital for the safe operation of Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.

The program is normally for 18-36 months, depending on the function and its requirements. GDP candidates are employees and follow a structured development program, targeted to a specific position, delivered largely in the workplace.

Graduates will acquire a solid foundation of core, technical and nuclear skills and knowledge of processes, and standards.

GDP places are very limited. Opportunities can be in engineering as well as in disciplines where there is a shortage of UAE National candidates.

Most of the openings for the GDP are based at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, so candidates must expect to be located in Barakah permanently from the beginning of the program.

Admission criteria for the Graduate Development Program

  1. Must be a UAE National.
  2. Age: no older than 26 years.
  3. English Proficiency: minimum IELTS Academic band 6.0.
  4. Bachelor’s degree from a recognised UAE or international university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  5. Have no commitment to another Graduate program and not already working in an entry-level position in another organization.
  6. Completed National Military Service (no exemptions permitted).

As the GDP is the Enterprise’s premier entry route, the above requirements are the minimum. Please apply only if you meet these minimum requirements.

On completion of the DNT program successfully, Trainees will be hired as local operators and will be located at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.
