Job Title: Count Room Specialist
Job Purpose
Operation , Calibration and Maintenance of count room instruments and ensure quality control to provide safe and reliable analysis environment.
Key Activities, Responsibility & Accountability
Count Room Management.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Operate High Purity Germanium (HPGe), Liquid Scintillation Counter (LSC), Low Level Alpha/Beta Counter to ensure high quality instrumentation.
• Calibrate High Purity Germanium (HPGe), Liquid Scintillation Counter (LSC), Low Level Alpha/Beta Counter to ensure high quality instrumentation.
• Preparation the calibration reports for count room instruments.
• Maintenance of High Purity Germanium (HPGe), Liquid Scintillation Counter (LSC), Low Level Alpha/Beta Counter to ensure high quality instrumentation.
• Operate and maintain radioactivity counting laboratory to provide safe and reliable analysis environment.
• Daily check of count room instruments to ensure instruments are ready to use.
• Weekly quality check of count room instruments to ensure proper operability of instruments.
• Procure the calibration sources for LSC/HPGe/ Low Level Alpha/Beta Counter.
• Maintain the calibration sources for LSC/HPGe/ Low Level Alpha/Beta Counter.
• Maintain the historical data base of sample results.
• Maintain and perform configuration control of count room instruments.
• Maintain the procedures for count room instruments operation and calibration and request procedure changes when required.
• Perform refilling of liquid nitrogen for HPGe as per requirements to maintain operability of HPGe.
• Perform replacement of P-10 gas cylinder for Low Level Alpha/Beta Counter as per requirements to maintain operability.
• Maintain/upload count room instrument records in SAP.
• Perform sample analysis for LRS releases.
• Perform sample analysis for LRS Performance Test.
• Perform sample analysis for gaseous releases from reactor containment building.
• Perform sample analysis for evaluation of Personnel Contamination Event (PCE).
• Perform sample analysis for weekly, Monthly and Quarterly samples to meet the ODCM requirements.
• Perform sample analysis for oil samples to support ops and maintenance for releasing outside RCA.
• Perform sample analysis for the smears for contamination detection
• Perform sample analysis for the air samples for determining the airborne contamination.
• Prepare the release reports for oil samples.
• Prepare the release reports for HVAC filters.
• Perform decontamination of instruments if required to ensure availability.
• Procure and maintain the consumables like filters, cocktail for LSC, Vials for HPGe/LSC, Cylindrical Beakers, Pipettes and Tritium bubbler bottles.
• Maintain the sample log sheets in count room.
• Maintain availability of essential inventory of count room instruments spare parts.
• Maintain count room instrument health check sheet.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree.
3 years of relevant experience
Pref -
• 3 years of relevant experience, out of which:
- 1 year of Nuclear Power Plant experience.
• APR-1400 or OPR-1000 experience in radiation safety area.
