Job Purpose
Support the development of the radioactive waste disposal facilities safety and environmental assessments, in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Activity: Management and Development of Radioactive Waste Disposal Facilities Safety Case and Assessments Responsibility:
• Support development of radioactive waste disposal design and safety case and assessments during site investigation, characterization and confirmation, with the objective of acquiring of more accurate and specific data, and managing the residual uncertainties.
• Support development, management and updating waste acceptance criteria and identification of disposal requirements.
Activity: Management and Development of Radioactive Waste Disposal Facilities Environmental Impact Assessments
Responsibility:
• Support development of Environmental Impact Assessments during site investigation, characterization and confirmation with the objective of acquiring of more accurate and specific data, and managing the residual uncertainties and to evaluate the impact of proposed disposal facility on public health, ecosystem and on the environment.
Activity: Radioactive Waste Disposal Solutions
Responsibility:
• Develop and manage disposal requirements for pre-disposal management of radioactive waste to ensure alignment between the Radioactive Waste Pre-disposal Management Program (Nawah) with the Radioactive Waste Disposal Program.
• Support development of disposal facility design and siting of necessary disposal facilities to timely identify potential sites to host radioactive waste disposal facilities.
• Support development of Radioactive Waste Management R&D Program to support effective management and disposal of radioactive waste and spent fuel in the UAE.
Activity: Safety and Environmental Assessments Licensing and Regulatory Requirements
Responsibility:
• Support the development of license applications including safety and environmental assessments for the siting and construction of radioactive waste disposal facilities in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practice.
• Ensure compliance with all national legislation, regulations and requirements associated with the siting and disposal of radioactive waste.
• Support the development of responses to relevant requests from FANR and EAD related to the licensing process as well as other relevant requirements from national regulatory bodies.
• Interact, in conjunction with Licensing, FANR and Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) regarding development of radioactive waste disposal program related to the UAE waste classification development, radioactive waste disposal facility design, safety case development, waste acceptance criteria development and any other items associated with radioactive waste management and disposal.
